WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 14

Hula Hula's Pig Roast and Luau Anniversary Party
Tropical weather not guaranteed, but there will be a prix fixe luau menu from 4pm until midnight, featuring Ahi tuna poke with fried yucca chips, slow roasted suckling pig, purple sweet potatoes, and a sweet mac salad at $24 per person. For dessert, coconut cream layer cake with pineapple sauce for $6, and $4 tiki drinks. There will be, of course, karaoke from 9pm–2am. And at 10pm, a brief intermission for a customary limbo competition—testing balance, flexibility, and your dwindling ability to make good decisions. Floral prints encouraged.

THURSDAY, JANUARY 15

Jeremy Sewall at The Walrus and the Carpenter
For one night only, Renee Erickson welcomes oyster-lover-from-another-mother, Jeremy Sewall to her Ballard restaurant. Sewall, of Boston’s Row 34 and Island Creek Oyster Bar, will be sharing dishes from his new book, The New England Kitchen, giving Seattleites a taste of east coast-style seafood. He’ll be cooking, shucking oysters with Erickson, and signing and selling books throughout the evening. On the night's special a la carte menu: Island Creek oysters, Dungeness crab beignets, and a lentil lobster bisque. This event is 4–10pm.

Strong Ale Fest at The Pine Box
Not for the faint of liver, Capitol Hill's number one mortuary-turned-public house is emptying out its cooler for your benefit, and it’s full of strong brews. It features more than 15 beers at 10 percent ABV or above. Geoff at Seattle Beer News has the full list of confirmed beers.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 16

12’s Rally at Sport Restaurant and Bar
Start the weekend off getting straight revved up for Sunday’s Seahawks v. Packers game with food, booze, and raffle prizes. John Howie’s Sport Restaurant is hosting a 12’s rally offering drink specials on local drafts and a “Beast Mode” cocktail. But get your “Feast Mode” on with specials on all cheesehead related food items such as fried mozzarella, fried cheese curds, and grilled cheesehead sandwiches. Wait, so we're asserting our superiority over Packers fans by eating their signature food? Whatever...lots of cheese is involved. Warm up your “Go Hawks!” chant starting this very Blue Friday at 5pm. 

SATURDAY, JANUARY 17

Porterpalooza with Wingman Brewers
The short trek to Tacoma is well worth it for this brewery’s celebration of all things porter. This year, Wingman Brewers will be pouring nine of its porter variations including peanut butter cup, smoked sea salted caramel, Mexican chocolate, chili pepper and Sichuan peppercorns, and vanilla rum. Five bucks gets you in the door with a commemorative Porterpalooza glass for your first fill. All other pours are just $4. Porterpalooza prosting goes 2pm–11pm. 

SUNDAY, JANUARY 18

Polenta Pop-up at Cafe Lago
Chef Arianna Garella is taking over Café Lago’s kitchen to prepare a five-course prix fixe menu celebrating polenta. Dinner starts with the usual antipasti, followed by four choices of polenta: brasato (red wine and tomato braised beef), salsiccia in umido (white wine, pork sausage, fennel, and leek), concia (vegetarian option with brown butter and sage), and a vegan choice of melanzane, or eggplant. The meal is $20 per person, or $10 for kids, and includes dessert. If you prefer the regular fare of wood-fired pizzas and lasagna, that will be available, too.

Hot Cocoa Competition at the Rhino Room
This event is equal parts hot cocoa cocktail, charity, and competitive zeal. Competing bartenders must create a hot, chocolaty drink featuring a nip or three of Dewar's (the brand is sponsoring this shebang). As guests, just mingle, sip, and remember to vote for your favorite. Bring your gently used ski and snowboard winter gear to sell, trade, or donate to Treehouse. And fear not ye 12's, you can have your hot cocoa and Seahawks, too; Rhino Room will be streaming the playoff game so you won't be out of the cultural loop. The event runs from 1–4pm.

MONDAY, JANUARY 19

Ray’s Cafe hosts Shell-Fest 2015
This two-week event of seafood feasting celebrates the Northwest's many forms of shellfish,  featuring preparation such as rock shrimp tacos, Dungeness crab bisque Washington razor clams, steamed half-Dungeness crab, and more ranging from $5 to $20. Begins Jan 19–31 from 11:30am–9pm daily
