Prerana Anti-Trafficking founder and director and 2014 Vital Voices Global Leadership Awards Human Rights Honoree Priti Patkar will be in Seattle later this month to speak with the World Affairs Council and Vital Voices Northwest Council at the World Trade Center downtown.
Patkar has spent nearly three decades working to end human trafficking in India and has pioneered night shelters to protect children of prostituted women.

Ask the Mayor
Mayor Ed Murray will be at the New Holly Gathering Hall next Thursday to take questions from Seattleites, discuss Metro cuts, and touch on his education reform plans. New SPD chief Kathleen O'Toole will join Murray and host Brian Callanan on stage for the second half of the event.
Seattle Channel will broadcast the discussion at 7pm for those who wish to watch, but attendance is encouraged as it is quite difficult to ask questions through the television. No matter how loud you ask, the feed only transmits one way.
Ask the Mayor, Thu, June 26, 7–8pm, New Holly Gathering Hall, 7054 32nd Ave. South, free.
Urban Farm Fling
Seattle Tilth's first Farm Fling fundraising dinner will take place at Rainier Beach Urban Farm. The farm formerly known as Atlantic City Nursery just needs an extra does of cash to become a full-fledged urban agricultural haven.
To raise that money, volunteers will serve a hot meal on the beautiful grounds of the farm, an experience the organizers hope will inspire a love of urban farms, and encourage residents to try their hand at urban farming.
Urban Farm Fling, Fri, June 27, 4:30–8pm, Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands, 5513 South Cloverdale Street, $300–$5000.
WSLC seeks applicants for Political Director
Do you feel like you ought to get paid for being politically knowledgeable, but haven't found the right way to do it? If your resume proves that belief to be valid (five years of experience as a political director of a union or community-based organization that has run major political campaigns, to start), the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO would like to see a copy.
The political director works with the council to formulate and implement political strategies, and collaborates with the field director to ensure proper dissemination of the council's message. Applications are due this Friday, so hustle up if you think you're a good candidate.
WSLC Seeks Applicants for Political Director by Friday, June 27.
