Those with close ties to the wedding industry (or a thing for Get Jesse) may have already heard that EM Fine Art Gallery in the South Lake Union area essentially scammed a couple months worth of special event clients by doing the venue-version of dropping off the face of the earth—and not offering any kind of refund or recompense.
But the Seattle wedding community is an amazing bunch, and I've got no doubt all couples who had booked the room will find welcoming spots elsewhere.
Say, perhaps at 1927 Events.
The downtown Seattle venue is hosting an open house today, June 11 from noon to 8 to try and help dispaced couples figure out a game plan that might include their great space.
The gals at 1927 told me "Couples can pop by anytime; we'll have wine and beer! We are happy to honor their contract with EM the best we can, and also happy to work with the vendors they have booked."
We also heard from Laurel Creek Manor, who wants to spread the word that they have a few serendipitous open spots on the calendar for those who are doing some last minute booking.
Looking for a summer date? They are, at the time of this writing, open on Friday, June 27; Saturday, July 5; Friday, September 19; and Sunday, September 28.
It's true what they say: when one door slams shut ... another one—or more—opens. Often quite graciously.
