Almost All the Way Around
Ship Canal Trail to Cheshiahud Lake Union Loop
Gets You From Fisherman’s Terminal to Eastlake
Best Traveled When you have a brief window for a ride and an itch to pedal
Road Blocks Watch for cars turning into parking lots and businesses along Westlake. At the end of the 5.1 miles, riders are left with two choices in Eastlake—hit the streets, then cross the University Bridge to the Burke-Gilman and make it a loop around Lake Union…or turn around.
Stops and Sights Though the city touts the Cheshiahud Lake Union Loop, named for a Duwamish chief, as a 6-mile circle around Lake Union, nearly a quarter of that route follows surface streets. Better is the route that winds from Fisherman’s Terminal, under the Ballard and Aurora bridges along the Ship Canal. The trail then heads south to MOHAI and the Center for Wooden Boats—and the Seattle Taco Boat, the city’s first
floating food truck. mohai.org, cwb.org, seataco.com
