The music of the Nile Project is one of the many highlights of UW World Series 2014–15 season.

When it comes to offering a wide array of international performances for Seattle to consume, no organization does it better than the UW World Series. The university has announced the 2014–15 season for all four of its categories: World Dance, World Music and Theater, President's Piano, and International Chamber Music. Within these designations, the 2014–15 season features many noteworthy performances. Flamenco dance company Noche Flamenca—which will be in residence at UW—presents the world premiere of Antigona, its interpretive retelling of the Sophoclean Greek tragedy. Mark Morris Dance Group returns to the Meany Hall stage for a program loaded with Seattle premieres, including the west coast premiere of Words. Patrons can also experience the sounds of Egypt, Ethiopia, Sudan, and more when the Nile Project presents music from its acclaimed album Aswan which was inspired by the culture surrounding the world's longest river. Other highlights include Branford Marsalis playing baroque works with the English Chamber Orchestra, fellow MacArthur Genius Chris Thile showcasing his mandolin prowess with bassist Edgar Meyer, the modern dance of Conneticut's Pilobolus, and the plucking of Grammy-winning Southern string band Carolina Chocolate Drops.
