Police Accountability Public Hearing
Head to city council chambers and share your opinion on the effectiveness of the city's police accountability system. (Or, if you're feeling shy, just watch online).
The public hearing on police accountability, a joint meeting between the Seattle City Council and the Office of Professional Accountability Review Board (OPARB), is a chance for the public to share their opinions before negotiations with the Seattle Police Officers' Guild (the police union) begin. The meeting starts at 5:30, but sign-up sheets for public comment will be available at 5.
Public Hearing on Seattle's Public Accountability System, Tue, Apr 22, 5:30pm, City Council Chambers, City Hall, 600 Fourth Ave, free.

Cultivating the Future
Quinoa seems to be the trendy new food, at least according to food blogs and Pinterest. But it's also the subject of Kevin Murphy's WSU Innovator's lecture in April. Murphy, a researcher and scientist with WSU, has been working to establish a Pacific Northwest quinoa production center.
His lecture will cover how the popular grain has the potential to create a new industry (and therefore, jobs) while also battling global hunger. Pre-register to guarantee a seat.
Cultivating the Future: Growing the Northwest Quinoa Crop, Thu, April 24, Grand Hyatt Hotel, 721 Pine St, $49.
