It may not be raining in Ballard, but it is definitely pouring at The Market Arms. Source:

Spring is here, well, technically at least. Here are some well-worn watering holes where you can wait out the impending April showers.

Grizzled Wizard
This low-key Wallingford favorite does liquor and craft beer with an edge. Try the Hawaiian pizza shot (bacon vodka, pineapple juice, and tomato juice) if you’re feeling adventurous, or choose from its selection of more than 100 liquors and 35 craft and local beers, including $2 Olympia tallboys ($3.50 wells and drafts).  The food menu isn't part of happy hour, but it is ever-changing. Expect everything from meatloaf to curried pork. Stop by 3-7pm daily.

Mecca Cafe and Bar
At this most unpretentious staple in Lower Queen Anne, you can have breakfast for lunch and lunch for breakfast. Regulars love Mecca’s quirky, no-frills diner feel, as well as its Happy Hour for Workaholics. Head in Monday-Friday from 3-7pm and power down $4 wells, $1.50 Miller pints, and BLT sliders $1.50 alongside a daily specials menu.

The Dubliner
The Dubliner in Fremont has everything you’d want in a dive bar: a pool table, good drinks, and service with an attitude. Snarf down a meaty burger (warning: the Dubliner cannot be held accountable if the Irish Heart Attack lives up to its name), and other greasy good eats and wash it down with a $4 cold brew. Happy hour runs 3-7; late night happy hour is 10-whenever they feel like it. Sunday happy hour and free pool happens from open until 10pm.

Bimbo’s Cantina
Clearly any roundup of dive bars will have an entry Capitol Hill. Bimbo’s Cantina is dive bar meets lucha libre, with the dirt cheap prices characteristic of the neighborhood's few remaining well-worn beer joints.  Happy hour snacks are in the $3 range, wells are $3.50, and margaritas and bloody Marys $ 4.50. Happy hour is 4pm-8pm every day and all day Sunday and Monday.

The Market Arms
This sporty Brit pub in Ballard classes up the term “dive bar” with traditional British fare such as shepard’s pie, and a wide variety of spirits, wine, and beer. Don’t let the football ambiance fool you, mixed drinks are top notch; bartenders are currently whipping up lemon cosmos and raspberry mojitos to get patrons in the spring mood. The Market Arms offers happy hour Monday through Friday 3-7pm and late night happy hour 10-midnight; appetizers start at $4, wells and pints under $5.
