Redhook is already rolling out its autumn beer, and most of us are thinking, "Not yet!" The sun has been shining, the rain sparse—overall, it's been a beautiful summer in the Northwest. Why not enjoy the last few weeks drinking, relaxing, and playing games? These spots offer happy hours where you can challenge your friends to Ping-Pong battles or maybe a rousing round of Chutes and Ladders—I'm sure there's a way to add some drinking rules to that one.
Roanoke Park Place Tavern
It's pretty awesome when you walk in to a bar you’re mostly sure is going to be dark and divey only to find there’s a crazy-lovely patio out back—with Ping-Pong tables to boot. Happy hour is weekdays from 4 to 7pm and midnight to 2am, where drafts and well drinks are a dollar off. There are also daily specials, on Wednesdays it’s $1 taco night and $1 cans of cheap, delicious beer.
This taxidermy haven caters to our inner-child with skee-ball and fun movie nights. Don’t miss Anaconda this coming Monday. The bar also has an amusing collection of board games, which can all be taken out to the back courtyard. Challenge your friends to Battleship, Candyland, or the new cynical version of Apples to Apples—Cards Against Humanity. It's dollar off burgers and sliders during happy hour 4 to 7 daily, and draft beers are $3 (except Oly for a slim $2).
There's been some recent changes at the bowling alley on Capitol Hill; the 2,300-square-foot outdoor area now has a bar, fire pit, and heaters. As well as a menu overhaul by chef Garrett Michael Brown. Enjoy a few happy hour $3 wells and $2.50 drafts, and just when you've got that perfect ready-to-bowl-buzz head on in and roll away. Drink and bowling specials run daily from 3 to 7pm.
Teddy's Off Roosevelt
This casual pub has been a favorite dive in the Roosevelt neighborhood since 1984 for watching sports and playing games like Golden Tee and Big Buck Hunter. It's also home to a sunny, private back patio area with a Ping-Pong table ready for a serve—or possibly some Beer-Pong? Happy hour is from 4 to 6pm everyday, where micro brews are $1 off.
