Here’s something exciting to file away for a nonrainy day: The former Terrace Garden space downtown is about to be reborn as Frolik. The name has a “K” where a “C” should be: This is true. But this fifth-floor space in the Red Lion Hotel at 1415 Fifth Avenue does possess a killer terrace, five floors above the city center. The 127-seat space is getting a majorly modern, lounge-friendly makeover, and out on the terrace you'll find ping pong, shuffleboard courts, and some fireplaces and heaters to prolong patio season.

Inside, the 24-foot bar will offer both scenic views and cocktails designed by Mike McSorley, a veteran of places like Naga and Tini Bigs. Brace yourself for major happy hourage: A menu of $4 cocktails, wine, and beer, and $5 plates will run daily from 4 to 10.

Frolik is set to open in mid-April (track specifics on Twitter and Facebook) and will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week (it is a hotel spot, after all). Think Northwesty American plates like crab benedict or duck confit flatbread pizza. A counter area will also offer takeout options throughout the day. Get there via the direct entrance on Fourth Street or through the Red Lion lobby.
