A certified sommelier, Amanda Balo first became interested in wine while working part-time in a wine bar and attending Central Washington University. She was also inspired while taking classes with Master of Wine Amy Mumma. Balo has worked as the lead sommelier for Seastar Restaurant and Raw Bar, and is now the Wine Sales Consultant for Cordon Selections in Seattle.

What do you think, Amanda Balo, what should I drink tonight?

If you are still wondering what would make a great Christmas gift, I would recommend a lovely bottle of bubbly—The Parigot Cremant de Bourgogne Rose. A dry sparkling rose would make a perfect pairing for any Christmas feast and an even better bargain for ringing in the New Year. If your guest can’t wait that long to open the bottle then you know you made the right choice.

Many people’s impulse is to buy Champagne—unaware that there are many areas around the world that produce their bubbly in the same method as the famous Champagne region in France but without the price tag. The Parigot Cremant de Bourgogne Rose is a lovely dry sparkling Pinot Noir. The profile is salmon color with an enticing fruity nose that completes the delicate strawberry flavor with a balance of elegant bubbles and crisp acidity. Worried about what food to pair? Never fear—bubbles pair with everything.

The Price: $20
