Wherein we ask local wine notables to make our weeknight drinking decisions for us.

2012 Chinook Semillon from Yakima Valley.

As a co-owner of Lark, Kelly Ronan manages the wine program, finding “obscure and balanced wines that pair well with John Sundstrom’s food.” Before moving to Seattle in 1991, Ronan learned about wine while working at a restaurant in California. She loves learning about and tasting wines from all over the world, though she says, “I don’t think I will ever become an expert by any means.” We disagree.

So, what do you think Kelly Ronan, what should I drink tonight?

My pick is the 2012 Chinook Semillon from Yakima Valley. I know it is probably a surprise to pick a white wine as the weather turns cold and blustery, but I love the stone fruit flavors of apricot and peach that come through each glass. Plus I find this wine delicious with warm fall dishes.
