Styles of the Sale: St. John houndstooth knit jacket with zip front closure, Kay Unger New York black silk strapless dress with pleated skirt, and a vintage black beaded evening purse.

WHERE: Redmond Town Center

WHAT: The annual YWCA Closet Treasures Sale is an opportunity to make off with killer designer clothes and accessories for ridiculously low prices.

Last year, YWCA events coordinator Shauna Aron saw one lucky lady leave with a $1500 Valentino dress for only $65 while another shopper snagged a pair of Manolos for $35. All proceeds benefit Dress for Success, a YWCA program that provides professional attire and fosters a network of support to help women build fruitful careers and lifestyles.

So how to make the most of this shopportunity? Aron's top tips follow.

1. Donate. By donating a piece of name-brand clothing, you'll earn buy-one-get-one perks for entry passes to the VIP Preview Sale (see dates below). She adds that the event welcomes a wide range of designers. Don't shy away from donating because you don't think your labels aren't top tier; all labels are welcome.

There are two dropoff locations in Seattle and Redmond that are currently awaiting your cast-offs.

 2. Be the early bird. Aron tells us that if you come to the preview sale, you will have first dibs on more than 50 racks of merchandise priced between $20 and $50—a screaming deal considering most of the stuff you'll find had original price tags with a few more digits. Saturday will be a little more picked over, and Friday's event gets glam points for a fashion show, DJ entertainment, wine, and food.

3. The first thing to get fiesty for: handbags. Keep your composure, of course, but Aron says they are consistently the first things to go at the very beginning of the sale. Last year, more than 50  women lined up at the door on Friday, and the handbag selection was wiped clean by the end of the night. Shoes are a close second. Did we mention that fate brought one woman a pair of Prada booties for $35 last year? Envy.

 4. Keep the mission in mind. So far, the program has helped to outfit 4,735 men and women in appropriate attire for a new job or job interview; 446 women in Seattle alone. Knowing the real reason you're shopping can only make you a better shopper. Right?

WHEN: Buy your tickets ahead of time for $30 and get the first peek at the VIP Preview sale on Friday, October 12 from 5 to 8. Tickets will be $35 at the door Friday evening. Festivities will continue (and admission is free) on Saturday, October 13 from 10 to 4.
