Last time we heard about a Ben Gibbard concert, we didn't even have time to get a post up before tickets sold out. The Bremerton native and Death Cab for Cutie front man embarks on a much-anticipated tour this fall behind his first solo album, Former Lives, a record he says "spans eight years, three relationships, living in two different places, drinking then not drinking. [It's] a side story, not a new chapter." There might not be another solo album for a decade, he adds, given how prolific Death Cab continues to be in its fifteenth year, so it's fair to say this is a special occasion. Gibbard will play Showbox at the Market on November 16 with fellow singer-songwriter Damien Jurado opening, and he just added a benefit concert to the calendar.

Tickets ($50) go sale today at noon for Ben Gibbard's solo show, November 17 at Washington Hall, with proceeds supporting nonprofit writing and tutoring center 826 Seattle.
