FRIDAY June 8
The Blind Cafe
Feeling brave? A Colorado-based group will be setting up shop at the Fremont Baptist Church and serving a dinner in the dark that promises the be more interesting than the usual restaurant experience. There will be dinners (with music and discussions about blindness) on both Friday and Saturday at 7:30, and tickets are available online.

SATURDAY June 9
Camp Cooking Class
Aka: Making Do 101. Seasoned REI campers will be putting on a free class for beginner camp chefs at the Seattle REI from 1 to 2:30. Lesson one…s’mores?

FareStart’s Birthday Bash
The venerable Seattle nonprofit is celebrating 20 years of successful service with a big ol’ party at the Fremont Studios. Dozens of chefs, brewers, and winemakers will serving and pouring during the event, which runs from 6 to 9. Tickets are still available.

SUNDAY June 10
Oyster Afternoon at Belle Clementine
Chef David Sanford is joining forces with "Oyster Bill" to put on a delightful little afternoon. From 3 to 7, a $15 ticket will get you in for a half-dozen oysters and a glass of wine or beer.

MONDAY June 11
Why Every Kitchen Needs a Centrifuge
Scott Heimendinger, the Seattle Food Geek and business development manager of Modernist Cuisine, will be at Wilde Rover in Kirkland talking about bringing that big, somewhat intimidating, cookbook to life. The talk, which begins at 7, is part of the Eastside Science Cafe series and is free and open to all ages.

BEYOND

June 14 Drink beer; raise money for prostate cancer research. Pike Brewing is hosting Pints for Prostates the third year in a row. There’ll be info about the disease, a silent auction, a raffle with a week-long trip for two in Belgium as the prize, and copious craft beer.

June 26 Sounds like a win-win situation: bike to dinner and 20 percent of your bill will be donated to charity. Now in it’s third year Spoke and Food has rounded up more than sixteen restaurants (Emmer and RyeSerious PieStumbling Goat Bistro …) for hungry do-gooders to pedal to. You burn calories, the FamilyWorks food bank and resource center gets donations.

June 30 & July 12 Bikes, Bastille, and brunch. Cascade Bicycle Studio is teaming up with the Ballard Ave brasserie to celebrate the Tour de France. On both days, a controlled pace ride will depart from Cascade Bicycle Studio in Fremont at 7 am and the buffet-style brunch and Tour watching begins at Bastille at 9:30. Advance tickets are $18, $25 day-of, and riders get valet bike parking.

August 17 Tickets went on sale Friday for the Sunset Supper, a benefit for the Pike Place Market Foundation. The Foundation supports the clinic, preschool, senior center, and food bank located in the market. Dozens of restaurants will be gathered in the promenade, doling out bites to attendees as the sun sets over the Olympics. Tickets range from $85 to $175, and prices go up after July 16.
