On Wednesday morning City Council’s Committee on the Built Environment will again convene to weigh a proposal that would increase the presence of street food here in Seattle. The board is expected to vote on the measure, which proponents have long been shopping around. It would permit trucks and carts to park in specified zones and allow for two sidewalk vendors per city block face.

At previous hearings, debates revolved around how much of a buffer vendors must maintain between themselves and businesses (notably restaurants) and schools. Restaurant owners lobbied for 100 feet, but the committee has said it prefers a 50-foot setback.

If the meeting in late June is any indicator, the committee will likely adopt the new rules. The meeting happens at 9:30 at City Hall. Check back for updates, Nosh is planning to attend.
