BELLTOWN
Pintxo toasts one year on Sunday, May 8 with drink specials and a contest to see how many bacon-wrapped dates one person can mow down. To enter the challenge (it starts at 6), enter before 5pm on May 4 via the tapas spot’s facebook page or twitter account.

CAPITOL HILL
Gyro Cafe, serving the eponymous wraps, sharwarma, and falafel plates for under $10, is doing business at 107 15th Avenue East in a former yoga studio, says CHS.

Meanwhile, the short-lived Patty Pan Café has closed its doors after only five months, CHS also reports. The cafe still plans to host Humble Feast dinners on the last Monday of each month until the end of its lease; at that point, the event will take place at a nearby community center.

Broadway Farmers Market kicks off its season on Sunday, May 8 from 11am-3pm at Broadway and Pine. New vendors this year include Port Madison Farm from Bainbridge Island, selling goat cheese and Citizen Foods, purveyor of vegan burgers and gluten-free wraps.

GREENLAKE
Irwin’s Neighborhood Bakery and Cafe plans to open at 301 NE 65th Street, location of the erstwhile PetDaddy dog boutique, on Sunday, May 8, My Greenlake reports. Moms can swing in for free treats.

PCC Natural Market is breaking ground on a new store. It’s set to open in the forthcoming Green Lake Village in 2013.

MADISON VALLEY
Rob Sevcik is the new chef de cuisine at Rover’s. He replaces Adam Hoffman, who left to open his own bistro and brewery in Monroe, according to the restaurant’s website. Nick Gavin will wear the hat of sous chef. At age 21, Gavin is the youngest sous in the restaurant’s history.

MAPLE LEAF
The forthcoming COA Mexican Eatery & Tequileria hosts a Cinco de Mayo dinner with tequila pairings for $40 a person. Seating is limited so make reservations.

QUEEN ANNE

Curb slingers including El Camion and Rancho Bravo will duke it out at the first annual Top Taco Truck Challenge on April 30 from noon to 9 at 101 Westlake Avenue North. Attendees can vote on their favorite tacos until 5:30pm; the winner is crowned at 6.

The Herbfarm hosts a locally sourced Spring Forager’s Dinner through May 8. A copper king salmon menu will follow and run from May 13–29. Dinners range from $189 to $195/person. Reservations are required.
