According to one source, authorities zeroed in on White Center in July due to the number of shootings, gang activity, and drug dealing in the area. Authorities targeted two businesses when they discovered they were acting as "front" businesses for drug and gun sellers.
During a three-month investigation targeting crime in White Center, a source says undercover operatives bought crack cocaine, methamphetamine and guns.
A source says crack dealers and “career criminals” had a heavy presence at two bars—DK’s Asian Restaurant and Bar, and Papa’s Pub—where undercover agents were able to buy guns and drugs. It's unclear whether criminals had commandeered the businesses, or if the owners were somehow involved in the criminal activity.
The two business were apparently unconnected.
It's unclear how many arrests authorities made in the sweep, but one source said there were “lots of gangsters in custody” following the raids.
The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, Department of Corrections, King County Sheriff’s office, and Seattle police all participated in the raids. The US Attorney's office has scheduled a press conference for Friday.
