Today:

At 2:30pm, the nine members of the City Council will meet to discuss the Alaskan Way Viaduct and Seawall Replacement Project.  Following Chair Tom Rasmussen's report and a discussion on city funding with presentations from Council Central staffers Norm Schwab, Ben Noble, and Dan Elder, attendees from the public will have 20 minutes to comment. View today's the agenda here.

Special Committee Meeting on the Alaskan Way Viaduct and Seawall Replacement Project, 2:30pm, Council Chambers, Seattle City Hall 2nd Floor, 600 Fourth Avenue.

Can't take the time off in the middle of the day but want to keep on top of city initiatives?  Check out this evening's workshop on the Youth and Family Initiative, at Garfield Community Center.  Mayor Mike McGinn will be in attendance, and refreshments and activities for the little ones provided.

7-8:30pm, 2323 E Cherry St.

If you need the night  off from civic engagement (and the cold and rain), get swept away to the South Seas with Trader Joe's Silent Movie Mondays at the Paramount Theatre.  Tonight's screening, the 1931 "Tabu:  A Story of the South Seas," is the last film directed by silent film master F.W. Murnau (of "Sunrise" fame).  Like all films in the series, it's accompanied by live music by acclaimed organist Jim Briggs on the historic Mighty Wurlitzer Organ.

Tickets $12, $9 for students or seniors.  7pm, 911 Pine St.

Tomorrow:

Spend the day giving back to the environment and join in on the Duwamish Greenbelt Forest Restoration, one of many work parties hosted by the Nature Consortium.

You'll start off with a short informal forest ecology workshop, and might be lucky enough to be treated to some live onsite performance art, as the Nature Consortium invites singers, instrumentalists, and dancers to "play in the woods" during many of their work parties.

Be sure to RSVP to get tomorrow's work party location; they change every day.  Contact Marisa Ordonia at [email protected] or call 206.923.0853.  Duwamish Greenbelt Forest Restoration, 8am-4pm, call for location.
