BEN FUGLEVAND IS a full-time design student at Cornish and works at Velocity Art and Design, the home furnishings showroom in South Lake Union founded by John Tusher.
Work I study spatial design and work with the best home and lifestyle products from around the world. I’m there to tell the stories behind the amazing pieces that John curates.
Hair I go to Tyler at Ten Pachi in the U District. You get confident, supermodern cuts and a scalp massage for $25.
The vest Dries Van Noten. I love sweater vests—long ones.
The jacket Brushed cotton blazer by YMC. It’s a British line we sold at Polite Society when I worked there; you can find it at Blackbird now.
The pants My friend Sylvia Spiers made them. She’s in the apparel design program at Seattle Central.
Personal style in three words Cheeky, unconventional, resilient.
Last wardrobe purchase
A vintage Jil Sander sweater vest from Le Frock. I have amazing pieces from that store. You have to go all the time, though, and watch the racks like a hawk.
Most recent home acquisition My grandfather recently passed away and I got a solid brass desk lamp from Tiffany that he was given in the ’60s. I’ve loved it since I was a little boy.
Coveting for spring A slim-fitting, long—down to my knees—white oxford shirt. I don’t think it exists, so I’ll have to have someone make it for me.
Best local shopping Jack Straw for that “I want everything in here” experience, then the flea market vendors at Pike Place (one of them invariably has some rad vintage shoes), and the Filson flagship store in SoDo. Such quality!
