Good news from ACT Theatre in these hard times. Here’s a bit from the press release:

"A Contemporary Theatre is proud to announce that the Gian-Carlo and Eulalie Scandiuzzi $150,000 donor match for new and increased giving met its goal on June 18, 2009—12 days before the June 30, 2009 deadline. In addition, during this $150,000 match campaign, an anonymous matching donation of $50,000 also was made, which was met on July 1, 2009.

Through these matches, ACT has raised a stunning $407,685 in new and increased giving from individuals since May 1, 2009. ACT has acquired more than 200 new donors, which is a 9% increase over the 2008 donor base. At a time when foundation and corporate giving is particularly low, the anticipated effect of these individual donations on the overall ACT budget is a projected deficit reduction of approximately 77%. These increased contributions…mean that as of July 1, 2009…the theatre’s projected 2009 deficit has been reduced from $780,000 to $182,000."
