Pioneer Square is about to get its very own Rudy's Barbershop, with a surprise twist: the chain's eighth Seattle location will be the first to serve beer.

The pilot program will launch with a beer-by-the-can menu featuring brews from New Belgium, along with old faithfuls PBR and Rainier.

The new space will also feature a designated area for beverage enjoyment (sorry, no pounding beer around scissors). If all goes well, Rudy's has plans to start beer service at some of its other locations.

Rudy's Barbershop Pioneer Square opens Friday, June 17 at 109 First Ave South.

UPDATE: This post originally stated Rudy's Pioneer Square opens July 17. The correct opening date is June 17.
