Rick Stansbury is dumb. Mississippi State’s coach has so little faith that his Bulldogs can beat the Huskies this afternoon in Portland, he has to beg Oregonians who show up for the first-round NCAA tourney game to draw on their hatred for Washington and root against the Dawgs:
"We know all the Oregon people will be behind us tomorrow and if you’re not, get behind us because we need all the help we can get," he said.
Really, Rick? That’s what you’ve got? Sure, you got yourself in the paper with your funny little plea, and it’s probably better than trotting out the old "I have a lot of respect for our opponents, and we’re going to do our best to match up with them and play them hard for 40 minutes" platitudes, but you went too far. Sticking your nose in someone else’s border war? Not cool, homey. You might as well have worn the wrong colors in a Crips neighborhood and then asked some Bloods to come bail you out just as you were getting hooked up to a car battery. Aren’t you southerners supposed to be all polite and genteel? You better roll right up in the 503.
Anyway, yeah, Dawgs by 8.
