Sammamish River Trail

Gets You From Bothell to Redmond

Best Traveled As an add-on from the Burke-Gilman on a full day, on a bike you’ve road tested for bum soreness

Road Blocks It’s paved for all 10.9 miles, but the soft-surface parallel path at the southern end is frequented by horses—so try not to swerve.

Stops and SightsIt can be hard to tell where the Burke-Gilman ends and the Sammamish River Trail begins. The latter is decidedly rural, though it makes a pass right through the middle of Woodinville. And that means fancy feasts—a tipple at the new Woodinville Whiskey tasting room and lunch in the tavern half of Joshua Henderson’s Hollywood Tavern (you’ll be too sweaty for the dining room). Then comes the bucolic stretch, heading due south past well-ordered small farms and the languid Sammamish River; the few trees next to the trail mean wide valley views and maximum sunshine. End at Redmond’s Marymoor Park, where there’s a velodrome that holds bike races and access to the unpaved East Lake Sammamish trail. woodinvillewhiskeyco.com, thehollywoodtavern.com
