Did you catch the New York Times piece this summer about small shops drawing big business online? It happened to feature a local boutique, and you know how we like it when Seattle shops make headlines (bonus points when they buck ye olde tired and incorrect cliches about bland Northwest style while doing so).
Still, if you talk to your local shopkeeper about the day-to-day of running a physical store let alone an online one, well, it isn't easy. So props to those who get their digital ducks in a row and hang their shingle out on the internet.
Owner Rachael Nov and her crew have been putting Seattleites and Bellevuers in "It" silhouettes from exciting emerging designers for six years, and with today's launch of their brand new online shop, they expand their customer base exponentially.
While their previous and much more static online presence brought in some global shoppers (largely interested in Isabel Marant pieces; the cult Parisian brand cannot be sold online, so those who carry it take phone orders—lots of them), the new site will have more folks saying "Oh this? Thanks, I got it from a shop in Bellevue, Washington." Probably with east coast lilts and foreign languages.
Of course, folks around here will be paraphrasing. Especially with the web launch promotion Nov tossed out to celebrate the shop: Now through Friday, December 7 you save a little when you spend a little, and save a little more when you spend a little more. Check out the details below.
