Breast cancer is one of fashion’s favorite causes; it just makes sense.
Here’s what happens: Local luminaries, designers, and media professionals—including yours truly—redo regular old bras, creating campy, quirky, and otherwise awesome undergarments for the pink runway on Sunday, June 17.
A silent auction, drink specials, and DJ’ed good times round out the show; all proceeds benefit research and assistance.
The bra I crafted was inspired by women in menswear (one of my all-time favorite fall-backs), female factory works from the WWII era, the Alexander Wang look, and denim workwear. But, as I told the Save the Girls organizers, I thought more and more about the men in our lives as the project evolved—the fathers, husbands, brothers, and friends who support us during challenging times.
In this way, it’s pretty fitting that this year’s runway show happens on Father’s Day.
What do you think? Tickets to a bra show for Pops this year?
