Pastels are the new neutral for summer. Since showing on spring runways, the delicate, sherbert shades are hopping from pants to pinkies.
If you’re the type who likes to see Hollywood do it first, Jessica Alba and Ginnifer Goodwin are willing showroom models. The latter does a pretty excellent job (or was it her stylist?) of pairing eggshell blue polish with this season’s edgy leather, and that’s how we like the trend best; in a perfect soft/hard, tough/pretty mix.
Our pick for a must-have pastel polish this June? Butter London’s Bossy Boots. (That cheeky Brit Nonie Creme has everyone’s dream job: naming beauty products.) The opaque shade is light, light green with a mossy olive hue rather than a more typical mint one. It feels soft and earthy, especially because the lacquer dries to a dull shine rather than a high gloss.
You can find Bossy Boots at local Nordstrom stores, Whole Foods, and at Swink Style Bar for $14. Even better, drop by the Butter London storefront for a manicure on your way out of town: the Seatac Airport location is their only full-service salon.
