Among the Seriously Big Issues we've attempted to tackle around here is men's consignment. With the closure of Gentlemen's Consignment in Madison Park, we lost a pretty decent option, but thanks to Driftwood and Sell Your Sole, guys, you're back in the game.
Natalia Biner at Sell Your Sole, where stylish lady lawyers and chic Nordstrom gold card-holders recycle their best gear, is hosting a pop-up shop of men's goods from Friday, September 28 through Sunday, September 30. Ladies, your loss is his gain; Biner says 1,500 women's items will be taken off the floor to make room for ready-to-wear, shoes, and accessories from progressive and classic designers—she's banking on Ann Demeulemeester, Costume National, Nudie Jeans, Prada, D&G, and the like. (Representative images are above.)
Got some of the same you want off your back? Biner is accepting consignments through September 25.
Driftwood, the cozy Madrona consignment boutique that trades in edgy, wearable cast-offs of girls who shop at Totokaelo, Les Amis, Merge, and other like-minded spots, moved across the street to where Guesthouse used to be and, as the just the right pieces accumulate, will use the additional space to launch a men's department. (Guesthouse is now operating as a pop-up in Madison. Confused yet?)
It's great news and makes so much sense, considering Natalie Anderson co-owns the joint with her sweet and helpful beau, Adam Peart. The official opening celebration is September 16 at 5. Guys, start sorting your best unworn cool-weather goods now. Anderson is currently accepting designer goods in fabulous condition.
[Update: Driftwood owner Natalie Anderson decided not to stock menswear afterall. A gal has the right to change her mind, you know?]
Both consignment store owners say these developments are in response to overwhelming feedback from their clients—and their clients' boyfriends and better halves.
