Well, you should have gone to Coachella.

The big news in designers collabs was announced at a party give by H&M and Alexander Wang; style.com reports that invites went out from the two camps, and only upon arrival did anyone realize they were the same party.

And of course, only once the party was going did the big news drop: Alexander Wang was chosen by the Swedish megabrand to be its next collaborator; in the Swedish brand's ten-year run with these partnerships, the New York-based designer is the first American to be asked to create a collection.

What to expect? Well, maybe a bit of the unexpected.

Style.com quotes Wang as saying, "The idea of collaborations isn’t new anymore, they’ve been done from all angles. When they approached me, I wanted to do something different. It will be a new take on a lifestyle offering. It’s a little early [to talk about it], but it’s a completely new take on how they do collaborations."

Huh. Pillows and bath towels? Kids clothes and tableware? Stay tuned; we'll post collection images as soon as H&M does.

Can you expect anything like Wang's Fall 2014 presentation at the H&M release? Unclear. The designer says this collaboration will be different. Image via style.com

Okay, okay so when is all of this happening?

November 6.

And while the whole 3a.m.-in-a-lawn-chair-line thing has felt a little less fever-pitched of late, we bet this one is going to bring the die-hards back out of hiding. So you know, don't sleep on it—but on the other hand, remember what we've learned about those day-after returns (read: they can be a goldmine).
