There's no shortage of reasons to factor the Madrona neighborhood into any shopping day, still, Erin Krohn's brand new men's shop, Hammer and Awl, gives the area a new spin.

Think of it as an earthy and maculine complement to Hitchcock Madrona; where the latter supplies women with crafted jewelry and add-on pieces, Hammer and Awl is all about handmade bow ties, reworked classic watches, natural fragrance, and lifestyle gear for a guy who splits his time between great restaurants and the great outdoors.

On Saturday, October 12 from noon to 7, stop by the handsomely appointed man cave as Krohn and company celebrate in the mix of the neighborhood's art walk—the shop will feature the woodsy, darkly bucolic work of Portland artist Hickory Mertsching.
