Seattle's New City Target: Yeah, it's all right. (Though in our opinion, this tee-shirt is a missed opportunity. It shoulda been a seagull, right?)

#1 The first thing to know about our City Target is that it sees itself as a souvenir shop. A little souvenir shop. A mini shop-in-shop set up off the Pike Street entrance offers postcards, tee-shirts, Viewmasters, and other stuff.

#2 When we asked a City Target employee what was different about this new location, he said "Well, we have souvenirs, but we don't have shoes." They do have lots of other things you'd expect to find at Target though, like these kid-friendly humidifiers. #3 The new City Target is three floors of paper towels, mens and womens and kids clothing, makeup, pharmacy goods, consumer electronics, a Starbucks shop, and lots more. It doesn't seem small at all, though it's *about two-thirds the size of the average suburban or neighborhood Target.*

#4 A boon for downtown workers and residents, City Target is also a fairly full-service grocery store.

#5 Full-service includes a mini produce section and a bunch of freezer and refrigerator goods (including beer and wine), which means the first level (enter on Union) is as cool as a cucumber on hot summer days. So now, instead of forking over $15 bucks for a movie when you need to beat the heat, you can fork over $15 bucks for popsicles and ice cream, and cool down in the process.

#6 As the New York Times just reported the boom in urban-centered big box stores has everything to do with appealing to the needs of urban dwellers;who might need an air mattress when the in-laws come calling.

#7 The City Target employee we talked to said she was reasonably sure that this location would be getting the upcoming designer collaboration collections the company has in the pipeline. And then she said not to quote her 100 percent on that, so we're just quoting her like 94.3 percent.

#8 Oh yeah, you can get a flat screen at City Target. And a bike. The smaller space does not mean bigger goods aren't available. #8 You can also get an iPad. The electronics department has an Apple shop-in-shop, staffed with an Apple employee during all normal business hours. Genius.

#9 Seattle's City Target is Target's third such store. City Targets also exist in the downtown cores of Chicago and Los Angeles. New York, they're probably looking at you, next.

#10 Yep, you can park downstairs for free - as long as you spend at least $20 and stay for less than an hour. Enter the garage from Union Street.
