PubliCola Adds Life
What Should We Ask the Tunnel Panelists?
PubliCola has put together an awesome panel to debate the deep-bore tunnel (It's this Thursday night
, 7:00, City Hall, 400 5th Ave.)
On the pro-tunnel side, we've got state Sen. Ed Murray, who sponsored the tunnel legislation, city council transportation committee chair Tom Rasmussen, and King County Labor Council executive secretary Dave Freiboth. On the tunnel skeptics' side, we've got Mayor Mike McGinn, People's Waterfront Coalition founder Cary Moon, and city council member Mike O'Brien.
KIRO TV's Essex Porter will moderate. We met with Porter this morning to come up with questions and we've got a long list. (How do tunnel supporters plan to ensure that Seattle isn't on the hook for cost overruns? Aren't tunnel opponents just setting Seattle up for a rebuilt viaduct? Will the council hold off on signing agreements with the state until two initiatives have a chance to make it onto the ballot?)
But we don't want to miss anything. Leave your burning questions for either side in the comments. (And don't worry; you'll have an opportunity to ask any questions we didn't get to during the audience Q&A Thursday night.)
