Just about every local site is posting 8th Congressional District Democratic candidate Suzan DelBene's YouTube slam on incumbent U.S. Rep. Dave Reichert (R-WA, 8 ) today.
PubliColaTV brings you something else: We interviewed DelBene this weekend in Vancouver at the Washington State Democratic Party convention.
DelBene, an ex-Microsoft executive, is the third Democrat in six years who's taken on Reichert.
In the video, DelBene explains why she thinks Reichert is out of touch with the 8th, talks financial reform (DelBene calls for the "modern version of Glass-Steagall," a depression era protection which put an iron wall between commercial banking and investment banking), and dodges my question about the TARP bailout (something I also asked U.S. Sen. Patty Murray about ).
We also asked DelBene where she might part company with the Democratic party line. (Reichert has broken ranks with the GOP sevearl times including on the Employee Non-Discrimination Act for gay rights and on the major climate change bill that passed the House last year.)
I think she dodged the issue about the Democratic Party line, saying only that the Democrats needed to upgrade the health care bill. Nor did she have a reaction to Reichert's climate change vote.
DelBene has raised more than $1.2 million in her congressional campaign and has $838,000 on hand. Reichert has raised $1.3 million, and has $715,000 left in the war chest.
