PubliCola Arts Fest: Ginsberg at NWFF

The PubliCola Arts Fest continues tonight at the NorthWest Film Forum. (Get your festival wrist-bands at festival sponsors, including Realm in Belltown, Mauvais on Capitol Hill, Urth in Wallingford, and Excess Dub in Ballard).

Tonight, Northwest Film Forum is screening Howl, an account of the 1957 obscenity trial over Allen Ginsberg's atomic poem.

James Franco stars as proto-hippie-hipster Ginsberg in this grand defense of his Walt Whitman-Chuck Berry-Patti Smith opera to the starry dynamo machinery of night. It's all part of Northwest Film Forum's Earshot Jazz calendar.—JF
