Goodwill has a new green Job Training and Education Center
June Greendrinks: Goodwill, a Fashion Show, and Snoqualmie Ice Cream

Seattle Greendrinks, the local organization dedicated to helping the Northwest environmental community connect and network, has teamed up with Goodwill for June's Greendrinks meetup.
The two groups welcome those interested in touring Goodwill's new green job training and education center while sipping on beers from Fremont Brewing Co., sampling Chaco Canyon's organic menu, and cooling off with Snoqualmie Ice Cream.
The event will also include a showcase of Goodwill-inspired styles.

2014 First Citizen Banquet

Former Seattle Mayor Norm Rice has been selected as the 76th recipient of the Seattle-King County First Citizen Award, given annually to a prominent leader or unsung hero who has benefited the city or county and encouraged others to follow suit. 

Rice's long career in broadcasting, banking, academia, and politics will come to an end this year, when he retires from his current post as CEO and president of the Seattle Foundation. 

The black tie-optional cocktail reception and banquet begins at 6 pm at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel.

The Northwest Energy Coalition is honoring four young leaders in the region's efforts to find clean and affordable energy solutions.

The honorees—SustainableWorks managing director Tara Anderson, Climate Solutions' Washington state director Jessica Finn Coven, Idaho Conservation League energy associate Benjamin Otto, and Puget Sound Energy senior energy management engineer Gus Takala—were chosen from a list of 24 nominees.

More than 15 other speakers will also spend time behind the podium, delivering information on the state of Northwest energy efficiency efforts, the generation of wind and solar power in Montana, and the impact of EPA regulations in the energy industry.

All proceeds go toward the NW Energy Coalition’s work for clean and affordable energy solutions.

Member to Member Lunch with Priti Patkar

Prerana Anti-Trafficking founder and director and 2014 Vital Voices Global Leadership Awards Human Rights Honoree Priti Patkar will be in Seattle later this month to speak with the World Affairs Council and Vital Voices Northwest Council at the World Trade Center downtown. 

Patkar has spent the past nearly three decades working to end human trafficking in India and simultaneously pioneered night shelters to protect children of prostituted women.
