Last Night: Quality Burrito
Looking for a good place to hunker down after a day of reporting in Olympia to go over my notes and some of the bills I'm following, I asked a few lobbyists to recommend a cool spot. (I didn't want the usual karaoke places or brew pubs).
They sent me to Quality Burrito (AKA QB) over on the 4th St. drag in downtown Olympia. Perfect. A long hall takes you to a small yet roomy dark lounge off to the side of the restaurant where a chill waiter serves drinks (including their special kombucha-based booze drinks) alongside a menu of serious burritos: Ramona's Steak, Potato, and Bacon burrito; the Grilled Firebird (that's what I had); Emma's Codpiece burrito; and the Vegan Ranchero.
There was a quiet date going on at the table next to mine, a loud table of dudes plotting a start up tech company next to them, and a row of hipsters at the bar loudly Googling Millard Filmore.
"You go in there and you're in Brooklyn," a lege staffer said gleefully today when I told him about my lovely discovery.
