If you read the Seattle Times online, apparently so.

Several top people associated with the paper have told me over the last couple of days that the Times is joining a growing list of papers around the country that are moving towards charging for reading their content online—The Olympian being the latest

With print circulation falling while online readership is strong, it is understandable that the Times wants to try to extract some recompense from the hordes of non-subscribers who read the paper for free.

But will this will turn out to be the salvation of the Seattle Times, or another milestone in the slow death of the American daily newspaper? Remains to be seen.
