Parade of Pets: Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

Seattle Met readers’ well-dressed, regal, extra cute furry friends

100_0663

After my last dog died, rather than get another one, I decided to volunteer at a local shelter to get my “dog fix.” I managed to last two years without adopting by using the excuses of “no time,” “loss of freedom,” but that all changed the morning I came to the shelter and saw Frito. Not only was he the cutest thing I had ever seen, he was the sweetest, best behaved dog I had dealt with in two years. To top it off, he prances, literally prances like a show pony, when he brings a ball back to you. The picture attached is him napping on his favorite piece of furniture. You know, the one we said he was NEVER going to be allowed on.

Ruthie is Willows Lodge’s beloved Basset Hound/Rottweiler mix. Ruthie enjoys her days perched on her bed in the hotel lobby or romping through the Lodge’s five landscaped acres bordering the Sammamish River at the heart of Woodinville Wine Country.

Since Daddy has decided to read a book instead of play, Tater decides the next best thing is to keep him company and lay on his lap.

What can you say? Baxter ’s a wiener dog!

Our puppy, Walter, is the sweetest pig/rabbit/gremlin you’ll ever meet. While he tries very hard to make people take him seriously, his giant bat ears give him away every time. Here he is, enjoying a lovely day at Green Lake Park (while eying up a snack behind the camera.)

Kitsu is a two-year-old Shiba Inu, and most days you can find her curled up on the couch like this. We call her “The Firefox.”

Willow always takes her naps under things like her pillow. Other places: under the bed, under the covers, and under the rocking chair. I think she must of been under the puppy pile as a baby.

Bella was adopted from the Whatcom Humane Society when she was just 13 weeks old. Besides an occasional button that is strategically chewed off my jacket, she is the sweetest and happiest dog you will ever meet!

I met Syd on my first date with my now-husband; the date revolved around walking the dog, and so we did, all over Capitol Hill, for hours. Less than two weeks later, my man went skiing for the day and took the meaningful step of trusting me to watch Syd for the first time. It was a lazy Sunday morning with beautiful light, and this photo marks the first of hundreds I’ve taken of this gorgeous dog. Many of which depict him enjoying the bed…

Abby is a two-and-a-half-year old golden retriever that we adopted from the humane society in May 2010. She is the cuddliest, most loving dog anyone will ever meet. She is a 55-pound lap dog who loves to watch movies (she LOVES The Godfather) and relax on the couch with us at night. By the way, I am the “sleeping bag” she’s laying on in this picture!

Murphy is the king of the house. This couch is his! He’s a rescue with a ton of charm and love. His previous owners weren’t very nice to him, but now he’s happy living the sweet life in downtown Seattle. He has a real Napoleon complex—he’s a little dog with big dog attitude. He thinks he’s King of the Mountain, but he’s probably more like King of the Hill.

My dog Finnegan is the cutest dog ever. In this photo he was sleeping with his buddy that he’s had since he was a puppy. This guy goes with my Finn everywhere and even traveled to Australia and Europe with him.

Thanks for reading!
