Fresh off refurbishments, the Frye reopens with a collection of paintings by American masters who relocated to Europe in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and returned to the U.S. newly inspired. Childe Hassam discovered French Impressionism, John Singer Sargent experimented with realism, and Albert Bierstadt left Germany with new ideas about landscapes.
