Wherein we ask local wine notables to make our weeknight drinking decisions for us. 

Ken Benner has spent the last seven years as wine buyer and manager at Leschi Market, a neighborhood grocer with an unexpectedly excellent wine aisle (and equally excellent prices).  Prior to entering the wine world, he attended culinary school and worked in the kitchen at places like Boka and Dahlia Lounge, a background that has to help when advising customers on their wine purchases.

So, Ken, what should I drink tonight?

For me, there is no better indication that winter is behind us than the arrival of baseball season, sunny skies, and rosé! While I recommend rosé all year long, the weather this last week has really had me thinking pink even more than normal. 2013 rosés trickle in from all over the world this month, however many local rosés are available now.

One of the most anticipated rosés is the Pink Pape from Tranche Cellars. Tranche uses traditional Chateâuneuf-du-Pape (Southern Rhône Valley of France) varietals, Counoise, Cinsault and Grenache in making their very dry, French-in-style rosé.

The Tranche Pink Pape Rosé is a pretty, light salmon pink in color. The lush, bright red berry flavors coat the mouth, while the bursting acidity leaves a nice, clean, dry  finish, and your palate asking for more. It is great by itself, or with anything off the grill.  Not to mention the 12.5-percent alcohol makes a second (or third) glass a fine idea for a weeknight!
