Codfish tacos at Poquitos

Not that you need a new reason, but right now the reasoning is: It’s beautiful outside and that calls for fish tacos on the patio…with a margarita, and perhaps some chips and guacamole. Lucky for you there's also no shortage of places to get all that. But if you’re looking for an evergreen happy hour option (which you obviously are), these local joints feature specially priced fish tacos on their happy hour menu.

Cactus
Most of the five locations around Seattle and the Eastside boast patios and water proximity. But they all have a slew of specially priced happy hour plates and bebidas on weekdays from 3 to 6, and weekends from 3 to 5. Under normal circumstances, tacos from the feature menu will run you $14.50, but the spiced ahi tuna dish from the happy hour menu is a more reasonable $9.50. Besides, ahi tacos and a refreshing limey mojito ($6) at the Alki location sounds like the perfect afternoon getaway.

Boka
Downtown's staple for contemporary regional comfort cuisine does two daily happy hours, from 2:30 to 6 and from 9:30pm till close. The Northwest fish tacos ($10) are made with panfried rockfish, and come with salsa and cabbage slaw. Don't overlook the $6 truffle fries, another happy hour favorite. Drink specials at Boka include wells for $6, draft beers for $5, as well as a constantly rotating wine of the day and the bartender's choice in cocktail.

Poquitos
Let’s put the whole pescado thing on hold for just a minute; at Poquitos, (almost) every hour really is happy hour when it comes to tacos. This Capitol Hill restaurant offers two-for-$5 tacos basically all day long, from 11:30am to 6pm, Monday through Friday. On weekends food and drink specials only happen at the bar and on the patio; these include a "taco hour" from 3 till 4 (the same two-for-$5 deal), and then the happy hour menu reemerges from 4 to 6. Now back to the fish. A pair of Baja-style cod tacos make an appearance on the lunchtime happy hour menu for $8. On the drinks front, the happy hour deals are a decent $2 off margaritas and house cocktails and well cocktails for just $4.

El Borracho
One dollar tacos. I repeat: ONE DOLLAR TACOS. This sounds like some sort of ploy to lure in a new breed of legal stoners, and I think it’s working. From 4 to 7 on weekdays and 11pm till 1am daily, customers can have their choice of shredded chicken, potato and poblano, and three different kinds of pork tacos. Somewhat sadly, if you want to try the grilled cod tacos at the happy hour price, you will have to refer to the $2 taco section of the menu. Still, that's the cheapest I've seen them. Plus, take pleasure in the fact that chips and salsa are also just $1, and there is an array of happy hour drinks for under $5. If this doesn’t get you out the door to into either the Ballard or downtown location, then I can’t help you.
