Early Monday morning chef Robin Leventhal let the twitterverse know that Stopsky’s Delicatessen, the Mercer Island deli, eatery, and bakery she is heading along with Andrew Meltzer, is now doing business.
Working under a mantra of “tradition, updated,” Top Chef alum Leventhal and the Columbia City Bakery co-founder will helm classic Jewish dishes informed by a Northwest POV. That means much of the menu is made from scratch and with local ingredients. More than a grab-and-go destination, Stopsky’s seats 35 and serves breakfast, lunch, weekend brunch, and eventually dinner. Patrons will also find a mercantile (they’re everywhere!) tendering condiments, cheeses, house-made mustard and pickles, items sourced from Israel, and more.
Also involved in the operation are sous chef Shane Robinson and
Nick Flesch Steven Fantello, who is managing the front of the house. Jeff and Lara Sanderson own Stopsky’s, named for Jeff’s relatives.
