If there's anybody in this city who knows how to write copy for curds, it's Calf and Kid owner Sheri LaVigne. Recently I purchased a gruyere bearing the description "The Liberace of cheese; rich, fruity, and smooth as velvet on a baby's ass." Granted, buying a cheese for the tasting note description is a little bit like buying a wine because there's a cute animal or cupcake on the label. However I have yet to meet a cheese behind LaVigne's counter that isn't incredible.
In honor of National Cheese Month, we sent SeattleMet.com photographer Lucas Anderson over to LaVigne's Melrose Market shop to document some of her tasting notes. Read on for a Darth Vader reference, the chilly nature of a witch's bosom, and meet manchego's hot younger sister.
