Chipotle Mexican Grill
As of Wednesday, the popular burrito chain is operating its third Seattle location on Broadway between Pike and East Union streets. Chipotle is open daily from 11am to 10pm.
Wallyhood reports that Chabela’s is officially doing business on 45th Street in the space previously occupied by Casa Azul and Serena’s Guadalajara. The “modern fresh Mexican” menu is available for dinner starting at 4.
Seattle’s Best Coffee
Post Alley lost its Seattle’s Best, and perhaps more importantly that neon red coffee cup—one of Pike Place Market's most iconic emblems. Not to worry: Market authorities are looking to relocate the sign elsewhere in the vicinity.
Roxy’s Waffle Wagon
Owners Janelle Wehrman and Shelly Meyers are hoping to fire up the irons by the end of this month. Their waffle food truck will feature up to nine varieties, savory and sweet, of the breakfast staple as well as squaffles: bite-sized bits of buttermilk batter.
Lost Lake Cafe and Lounge
David Meinert and Jason Lajaunesse revealed on Facebook and Twitter the name of their 24-hour diner, slated to open in April. The Pike/Pine project has been in the works for some time now and will feature a restaurant on one side and a bar on the other.
Peddler Brewing Company
Owners Dave Kelly and Haley Woods have both bike and beer enthusiasts in mind for their new Ballard brewery, opening March 8. On tap are eight interesting brews, including a tangerine-wheat beer and coffee saison.
Rain Shadow Meats Squared
This brother butchery to Capitol Hill's Rain Shadow Meats will open in Pioneer Square in early March, says Eater Seattle, and offer lunch service and booze. Owner Russell Flint also talks of doing dinners occasionally and when summer rolls around, setting up a patio.
According to Magnolia Voice, an American-influenced Italian restaurant will fill the erstwhile Rudy’s location; the Villa is set to open in late March or early April. Owner Stefan Petrov will also be the chef (and continue to operate his other restaurant, Verona Pizza). Petrov is promising dinner to start, with lunch and breakfast—and possibly a bakery and coffee shop—coming later.
Co-owner Steve Schlackman has changed the name from Isola Bella to Bellini for his upcoming Sicilian restaurant, Eater Seattle reports. Executive chef Enza Sorrentino, also known around town as Mamma Enza, will offer “all-homemade takes on Italian street food" using local and imported ingredients. Bellini is opening in Belltown next door to Endless Knot.
Ballard Annex Oyster House
Ballard's new seafood eatery will open its doors at the end of the month in the historic Ballard News Building, once home to city hall. Co-owners Nathan Opper and Zak Melang promise an oyster bar, tanks of whole Dungeness crab and Maine lobsters, and an extensive drink menu. Ballard Annex will offer an oyster happy hour and will be open daily for dinner and Friday through Sunday for lunch.
Fremont izakaya Showa shuttered last week, but its chef is already at it elsewhere in the neighborhood. Jason Harris will bring his Bloom Bento pop-up to Kylie’s Chicago Pizza soon, offering lunchtime boxes containing various vegetables and grilled chicken breast. More menu items and locations are in the works; follow Harris on on Twitter for updates.
Three local chefs (Garrett Doherty, Irbille Donia, and Shane Tyler Robinson) are dedicating their pop-up to this porridge-like delicacy. Kraken Congee will debut April 1 from 5 to 9pm at Grub on Queen Anne.
Ivar’s Salmon House
The Whalemaker Lounge at the Lake Union establishment is due for some upgrades, including enhanced panoramic views, 20-plus additional seats, a copper-topped bar, and a central stone fireplace. Northwest artist David Boxley Jr. will add some flair with custom whale and salmon designs. During the month-long makeover menu options and hours of operation will proceed as usual.
This new bar opened with full force in the heart of Georgetown. Now brothers and owners Alex and Jonathan Parisi, along with partner Skylar Keith, are expanding hours—11am to 2am Tuesday through Saturday—and serving brunch on Sundays from 10 to 4.
The Pike Street sister establishments welcome pastry chef Mari Loofborrow, most recently of Crush and Palisade. Loofborrow's predecessor, Joanna Chau, made a crosscountry jump to Nomad in New York, a sibling to Eleven Madison Park.
