After a six-month hiatus, Joule is back in new digs in the Fremont Collective. Owners Rachel Yang and Seif Chirchi have crafted a new menu with steak as the focus, with various starters, vegetables, and rice and noodles dishes rounding it out. Brunch service commences this weekend, with delectables such as breakfast porchetta and a buffet of pastries, salads, and fruit.
Eater Seattle reports the former Snoose Junction Pizzeria on Market Street is now a restaurant serving Thai food hailing from the Isan region. The name comes from a common culinary technique in the region: rocking a pestle to grind spices.
The team behind The Noble Fir in Ballard is opening a similar, beercentric sibling in Fremont at 3417 Evanston Ave. The new bar will feature 30 or so rotating regional taps, says co-owner Ellen Kelly, with five or six selections dedicated to cider. As the Fir appeals to hikers, Kelly hopes the Sixgill will appeal to seafaring types, with boating, paddling, and other water sports guides on hand. Sixgill is to open in April if all goes as planned.
Beecher's: SeaTac Airport
The Pike Place Market landmark is opening shop near the Horizon gates on November 1, just in time for the holidays. Travelers can expect a similar layout and fare as the Market location, though no cheese will actually be made in the airport.
CHS posts another update on Mamnoon, the Middle Eastern eatery coming to Melrose Ave. Wassef and Racha Haroun hope to debut their restaurant and to-go counter in the weeks before Thanksgiving. Garrett Melkonian, a Cafe Juanita, Spring Hill, and Tom Douglas Restaurants vet, is heading the kitchen. Mamnoon will be the first commercial tenant of the new Melrose Square building.
Green Leaf: Belltown #2
Following the success of Green Leaf's second location under the Labor Temple, Ridgley Kuang is setting his sights six blocks south at former Mexican taqueria Tia Lou. Recently the taqueria was transformed into a lounge and party venue that only opens at 10pm. In an interview with Eater Seattle, Kuang said he is planning to launch lunch and dinner service there.
The Spoon Project
Carolin Messier, owner of The Harvest Vine, has teamed up with Harvest Vine baker Amelia Cullinan to launch an ice cream company. The duo debuted at last weekend's Seattle Underground Market with flavors like black fig with balsalmic, fig-amontillado sherry, and vegan Belgian chocolate sorbet. Cullinan and Messier hope to have a brick-and-mortar shop within a year, but will appear at events and host pop-ups until then.
Molly Moon's: Madrona
The ice cream walkup counter will stay open through the winter, thanks to a recent expansion into the neighboring laundromat. A handful of seats have been added, as has a large freezer stocking to-go pints.
Emmer and Rye
In an email newsletter, owner and chef Seth Caswell announced the restaurant will serve its last meals on October 28 after nearly three years of business. Caswell does, however, hint at a reincarination in another location.
La Casa Azul
After only a year of business, Isaac Jimenez is closing La Casa Azul in Wallingford, according to Eater Seattle. Despite a prime location on a busy street, the restaurant struggled to bring in enough business to stay afloat. The Greenwood location remains open.
Pinkabella Cupcakes: Queen Anne
Queen Anne View reports that the cupcake boutique at 1817 Queen Anne Ave N will close its doors on October 28. The four other locations will remain open, with another Seattle location potentially opening soon.
