Each week between now and Labor Day, we present a new or unsung patio for your alfresco imbibing needs.

A delightfully haphazard beer garden.

Owner Chuck Shin has tapped into one of life's great truths: Few people appreciate going out for a drink like the parents of young children. And they do so here in droves. The ample patio at his original Greenwood bottle shop is decidedly casual, free of frills, and noisy enough that a yelping infant won't garner dirty looks. It's a combo that lures many a dog owner as well.

But childless, dogless beer geeks love Chuck's Hop Shop with equal ardor: The selection is ferociously good. The 38 taps dispense small-batch local brewers or rarities from the (slightly) bigger guys. The list is generally heavy on IPAs and ciders, but with this many taps there's always a variety. Bottles from the deep bench of coolers can be consumed beneath one of the Ninkasi-branded picnic table umbrellas for a modest corkage.

There's a food truck or two—good ones—on site every day. The newly installed patio at the Central District location is equally wonderful.
