A Taste of Iceland 
The Iceland tourism board is in full force in Seattle this month, with a variety of events that includes dinner at chef Ethan Stowell’s Staple and Fancy Wednesday through Saturday. Stowell and Icelandic chef Hákon Már Örvarsson will collaborate on a special Nordic-influenced menu. The $45 meal includes “chef’s choice” appetizers, fish, meat, and dessert courses, and it's booking up fast. Party for Marriage Equality 
In support of referendum 74, massively slick newcomer Q Nightclub hosts an evening for marriage equality from 7:30 to10. The party includes food by Cupcake Royale, Madison Park Conservatory, and Skillet (to name just a few), plus beats by DJ Riz Rollins (KEXP), Nark, and Almond Brown, all for a suggested donation of $74

THURSDAY, October 11

Lombardia Dinner at Cuoco
The region of the season is Italy’s Lombardia, and Cuoco chef Stuart Lane will be preparing regional dishes, paired with special wines chosen by T-Doug beverage director Adam Chumas, Andrew Bresnick, and Soul Wine proprietor Michael Teer. Dinner begins at 6:30. Tickets are $64 and still available. 

Indian Cooking Demonstration
Vegan Indian Cooking
author Anupy Singla, demonstrates the art and simplicity of Indian cooking from 6:30 until 8 at Book Larder. She will discuss health benefits and share recipes, and hopefully let us try what she serves. Free for all ages.

Queen Anne's Farmers Market
Say goodbye (for now) to Queen Anne Farmer’s Market as it hibernates for the winter. Two musical groups will be performing at 5, and famed oysterman Jon Rowley will be cooking in the chef tent at 5:30. The market starts at 3 for fall hours. Until next year!

VP Debate at BottleNeck Lounge
After a packed house for the first Presidential debate, The BottleNeck Lounge is hosting again—this time for the VP debates. Watch Paul Ryan and Joe Biden duke it out (and say hilarious things) while enjoying a Moscow Mule and a warm pretzel. Doors open at 4, debate begins at 6. Arrive early for a seat at the bar. 

FRIDAY, October 12

Arcade Lights 
The semiannual celebration of artisanal food and beverages, Arcade Lights, is from 7 to 10 at Pike Place Market. The banquet will include over 70 breweries, wineries, and small-bite eateries, and as always, eclectic entertainment. Tickets are $25 in advance, and $30 at the door. 

SUNDAY, October 14

La Bodega Pop-Up Dinner
The Dominican sandwich shop (to open in Pioneer Square in November) will be serving up a preview at Madrona's Restaurant Bea beginning at 6. FareStart Gala Auction
Tickets are still available for the 20th Annual Great Food, Better Lives Gala Auction, benefiting the James Beard–winning organization, FareStart. Taking place at the Washington State Convention Center, proceeds from the ticket sales, silent and live auction, and multicourse meal will fund programs that support homeless and disadvantaged individuals. Tickets are $250 per person, or $2,500 for a table of 10. 

MONDAY, October 15

Metropolitan Grill Charity Event 
See your favorite Seattle Seahawk players up close while they serve a meal at Metropolitan Grill’s Fifth Annual Celebrity Waiters Dinner from 6 to 8:30. All proceeds from the dinner benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The Met is taking reservations now.

BEYOND

October 20 Trace's sushi maestro, Hayeong, shares his expertise at his $75 per person sushi seminar from 2 to 4. Classes are limited to 10 people, and will include hands-on sushi roll making and sake tutorial. Call 206-264-6060 to reserve your spot.

October 22 Seattle's premier food networking event, Foodportunity, is taking place from 6 to 9 at Tom Douglas's Palace Ballroom. Featuring tastes and treats from all over Seattle, food geeks' favorite chefs will also be available for questions. Tickets  are available $25 early admission, $32 at a later date.
