According to Eater Seattle, Señor Moose Café has its doors temporarily shuttered this week for a quick kitchen remodel. Owner Kathleen Anderson happily awaits a replacement new hood and vent system, and promises to open by this weekend. 

CAPITOL HILL

On Sunday, CHS reports a “rogue” farmer’s market set up shop on Broadway in front of SCCC, offering fresh and seasonal produce (can you say “kale?”) while Capitol Hill’s official farmer’s market is in hibernation. MAGNOLIA

Metropolitan Market recently launched a poke bar at its newest location. The slate of raw and cooked Hawaiian-style seafood salads (think Ahi tuna, sweet onion and seaweed, or marinated mussels, baby octopus, and calamari) includes gluten-free options and a rep says the feedback has been great so far. Depending on how things go, you might see poke bars at other Met Market locations.

SODO (AND BEYOND)

The fizz flew at Costco last week, when the big box store announced it would change cola loyalties from Coca Cola (the long-time star of its $1.50 hot dog and soda combo) to—dare I say it? —Pepsi. While the change won’t kick in until April, Costco is eager to see how this switcheroo will affect combo sales. KOMO and seattlepi.com have the details.

The New York Times recently did a blind tasting of caramels, and paid Fran's Chocolates the high compliment of not including Fran Bigelow's chocolate-covered, sea salt-sprinkled confections. Apparently even New Yorkers consider the hometown creations all too iconic and recognizable to participate in a blind tasting.
