A facelift is in store for Ray's Boathouse. The downstairs dining room will close for between eight and 10 weeks starting October 15, and will reopen with a new bar and menu from chef Wayne Johnson. The upstairs cafe will remain open. Follow the remodel here.

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness month, and chef-owner John Howie of Seastar Restaurant and Raw Bar and John Howie Steak is showing his support by donating $1 from every “Kiss from a Rose” cocktail to the Seattle chapter of the Young Survival Coalition. Howie’s goal is to surpass the 500 cocktails that were sold last year.
CDN reports that Alleycat Acres urban farm is hosting a carnival—pumpkins and all—from 4 to 9 on October 13 at MLK and Cherry Street. Games, live music, and food and drink are on the docket, plus a 7pm showing of Night of the Living Dead.
As of Monday, Ivar’s Seafood Bar is closed through the end of the month for an interior remodel and menu update. New booths, counter seating, and a hand-tossed salad and made-to-order sandwich station are in the works. The beginning of November is the tentative reopening date.

For the harvest release, the guys at Woodinville Whiskey Co are featuring American Whiskey Batch No. 2. Re-barreled in used Kentucky bourbon barrels, the whiskey is sweet and spicy while imparting hints of caramel, vanilla, oak, and fruit. Bottles are $50. Doors open at 8am on October 20, with a free whiskey glass for the first 100 people.
