See, it's totally normal to have your wedding pictures at Marination. Photo via Marination's Facebook page.

It’s nigh impossible to read the coverage (or Facebook posts, or emails) of same-sex couples lining up for their marriage licenses without getting misty-eyed. Sunday marks the first day these men and women can marry men and women, after the three-day waiting period that happens after you obtain a marriage license.

And, of course, the food and drink community is in on the celebration. Downtown, Tulio is offering a free round of French 74s (get it?) to couples with proof of marriage license and a food purchase. City Hall has a big marriage ceremony planned for Sunday. Cupcake Royale is donating 500 celebratory sweets (rainbow gay-bies, of course) and Rachel Marshall will be pouring toasts of her excellent ginger beer. Our Shop Talk blog has a rundown of other events and specials (including hotel specials…rawr).

Meanwhile, the ladies of Marination also have quite a shindig planned over at Marination Ma Kai. From noon to 3 on Sunday, the restaurant is donating one of its biggest assets—the killer view of the Seattle skyline—for a big old photo session for any and all newlyweds. Photographer Erinn J. Hale has signed on for free newlywed or newly engaged portraits. People, that is a deal.

Well, there is technically a cost; Marination asks that couples drop an item, any item, from the West Seattle Food Drive wish list. Ma Kai’s kitchen will be open and bar will have celebratory bubbles on offer, along with beer and wine specials. Heterosexual couples are welcome, too…no discrimination here, folks. What other specials are under way for Sunday?
