Marination Ma Kai takes over the Seacrest Boathouse property in West Seattle. (Rentals will continue out back.)

It's been a long, sometimes bumpy road, but the opening of Marination Ma Kai is nearly upon us. Not for nothing are Seattleites counting down this latest addition to Roz Edison and Kamala Saxton's Marination enterprise. There's the shave ice, infused with Ma Kai–made syrups (and with vodka, for adults). There's the beer, to be enjoyed on a spacious patio abutting Elliott Bay. And that view (see slide show).

A portion of the food menu borrows from Ma Kai's roving counterpart, Marination Mobile. To the uninitiated (if there are any at this point) that means kimchi fried rice, Spam musubi, and assorted tacos, quesadillas, and sliders. But there are just as many new things: panko-crusted fish and chips, a pork katsu sandwich, some particularly tasty fish tacos. Also new is breakfast, served daily and including shoyu eggs, steamed pork buns, and sliders stacked with inhouse sausage.

The digs are noticeably larger than the duo's first brick-and-mortar, Marination Station on Capitol Hill—a fact sure to please anyone who has had to fend for a stool while toggling chop sticks and a Hite lager. See for yourself in the slide show.
